Hey all. I joined the forum about a week ago after accepting a TPS job. I made it halfway through orientation when the ETL-HR said I could not work for Target and another department store in AP and I had to choose one or the other. I disclosed this in the interview and the department store is paying better so I'm leaving Spot after 3 hours of employment. I wish you all well!

I hope you enjoyed your time with us. Technically, you're not supposed to work for another retailer in any position (let alone AP) at the same time that you're working at Target. Too much potential for a conflict of interest.

I can imagine it being a big conflict of interest, especially for AP. AP gets a lot of information about the company that regular TM's don't get.

When I worked at another large clothing retailer, they told me about this rule (they also had it).
These laws are called non-compete clauses, and for the state I live in, they are automatically void (non-enforceable) as a matter of law in except for a small set of specific situations where expressly authorized by law.
Of course, that won't stop the employer (Target) from dismissing you if they learn of your second position, especially since my state is at-will employment.
