This forum is full of smug folks who accept no situation being their fault, and pass up no opportunity to look down on others.

The reason you're constantly getting passed over for promotions or shorted on hours might have more to do with your behavior and attitude than anything endemically wrong with Target. Even in the short time I've been here it's always the same names with the same complaints, and a precious few other names who are actually helpful, thoughtful, and will go somewhere in life.

I am so personally offended by what you say. You are so wrong let me tell you a thing or two...

oh wait....

(sung to the tune of "Let it Go")

I don't care!
I don't care!
Please take your shit elsewheeeeeere!
I don't care!
I don't care!
Go get eaten by a bear!

I don't care
'bout a word you say!
let the flames rage on!
the trolls never bothered me anyway.

like how your own child screaming in public isn't your fault

and pass up no opportunity to look down on others.

"Suck it up, Princess."

The reason you're constantly getting passed over for promotions

see all the "should I accept an offer for X" and "help they promoted me without telling me" threads

or shorted on hours

I'm sure the allocation of hours has nothing to do with sales

might have more to do with your behavior and attitude than anything endemically wrong with Target.

It might but I doubt you know the hundreds of people on here personally or the current situations at the thousands of stores across the country

Even in the short time I've been here it's always the same names

welcome to an internet forum

with the same complaints

it's almost as if Target ignores the complaints of the people that work there despite the downward trend of public perception

and a precious few other names who are actually helpful, thoughtful, and will go somewhere in life.

we're all going to end up dead

town park, my friend, you have it backwards. this forum is filled with people who are willing to help others and pass on their knowledge, that is why(in my opinion) that this forum exists in the first place, its a communal knowledge pool. no one here looks down on others, the guests are the ones who give us hell we just use this place to vent because every single one of us here knows what its like when that nightmare guest comes along, its enough to make you want to scream. the reason some may be passed on for promotion could be the fact that Target doesn't like to promote from within, preferring instead to hire out of college students. Everyone is shorted on hours man that is the nature of this industry. I don't know anyone on here personally (save for one person and you know who you are) but I am certain that each and every person on here is willing to come to the defense of one another at a moments notice. United we stand or divided we'll fall. So next time realize what good this forum can do because you don't know if coming on here to vent to like minded individuals(cause God knows we cant do it in our own stores) may be the one thing that keeps a team member from redecorating the walls of their store with an AK-47.Keelah Se'lai.

I came out here to have a good time and I am honestly feeling so attacked right now.

Ok guys lets all get along. This is a place to vent and everyone is entitled to their own opinion either way.

Seeing guests with children has made me not want to have children.

Why do they continue to give their children beverages to consume while they shop? It just ends up being spilled on the floor then I'm the one who has to clean it up, not the terrible parents.

I followed a soda droplet trail this week that went from toys, through the seasonal candy valley, around the back of seasonal, down the race track alongside market, turned and then stopped about halfway down the racetrack of A and B block. When I started I thought I would have the issue cleaned up with just a few paper towels, but that was not the case...I was really hoping it would lead to the person dripping soda, but that was before we realized the trail started in toys and not where I actually found the endpoint in A/B. I almost wish it had been a single larger spill. Who knows if it was a kid or even their parents though. >_>

I used to adore children before I started working retail. Now they usually disgust me. 9/10 times some haggard mother-beast with her screaming demon spawn will come through my line looking like she hates her life. No one knows how to parent anymore.

After being in cosmetics for two months, I can finally come back to this with some new ones:

The Tester: This is the asshole who opens up things that were not meant to be opened and tests it on themselves. Unlike other items, cosmetics items should be defected out after they're used for sanitary reasons, so this is a pain in the ass (ALSO IT'S WHY I CAN'T KEEP SOME ITEMS IN STOCK)

The Painter: The person who paints on the labels with the nail polish because they have to see every damn color. Or in the case of someone at my store, someone who painted smiley faces on the basedeck.

The Cheap-ass Party Girl: Someone who uses the testers to do their full makeup.

no one here looks down on others,
Sorry, but you're slightly mistaken here....I DO look down on a number of our pharmacy guests, primarily because they act like spoiled little children. See, pharmacy guests are a unique breed (and I don't mean "Target-specific", ANY pharmacy patient qualifies here) because they are particularly ignorant ;)

If you hold humanity at large in utter contempt, it shows. Guests aren't just idiot zombies who are getting in your way. They're human beings.

Wow. I'm new and just acquainting myself with the forum but from what I gathered it, and this thread specifically, was intended as an avenue for members to vent, hyperbole included when necessary. Your message, however well-intended could have been said more diplomatically and may have resulted in achieving the desired result, especially if you had omitted the personal attacks.

It's the same complaints because inconsiderate "guests" are a universal truth, therein lies the humor, which allows everyone a chance to commiserate and empathize. And it's no surprise that there are consistent, nearly nationwide issues within Target, it's called corporate politics for a reason, and no company, especially one this large, is immune to those pitfalls.

If you hold your fellow employees/subordinates/leaders with utter contempt, that shows as well. Sure, guests are human beings, not just "idiot zombies" but members are also human beings, not just mindless robots.

The Self Checkout Rookie: They put the item in the bag. then remove the bag..I start walking over to fix it.. they put it back on the scale and it fixes it by itself. I walk away.. Look over again and they are taking it off.. So I go back over to fix it. they put the item back on the scale.. it fixes it by itself.. Ha Ha, I'm no fool, I'm not moving because I know they are going to do it again. And sure enough it happens again. I walk over and smiling say, just leave it on the scale or press - I want to remove this item.
Guest - this thing is to complicated. Me - here let me fix this for you..
Though, the only way to really fix it is to have them not use self checkout.

The Self Check out - I'll get out of here quicker guest (or PEST): they are the ones who didn't want to wait on a cashier line with only one guest ahead of them, but they have no clue how to use self checkout. So GSTL has to stand there and practically do the whole order for them. The same guest says, I don't see how this is faster.. I do not see the words fast anywhere on the self checkout line....

The Self Checkout Waiter: They have no problem scanning or bagging.. They swipe the card and wait.. and wait, and wait.. They finally get gstl's attention and yell.. I have been waiting for 10 minutes (in reality probably 1-2 minutes - if that) We walk over and hit the finish and pay button.. They say - I did that already (which they probably did, but sometimes it has to be pushed twice) we say, oh I don't know what happened sorry about that, have a nice day.. Most of them feel foolish for not pushing that button twice.
