Like, even the store is closed? My store did it for a while with flow, I don't like it. They also tried it with backroom but it was either let them keep their earphones or fire everyone.

I'm talking about one jack in ear, not full on headphones btw

When the store is closed. One headphone or audible, not blasting, over your phone speaker.
If anyone has to call you multiple times because your music is too loud then the option is taken away from you.
If you're in the backroom its the same rules. Only when the stores not open. We had a couple tms in the back that tried to do it all day but they stopped it fast when people started asking if they could too, in the interest of fairness.

When the store is closed it's not a big deal. Lately I've had issues with my team not responding on walkie because of too loud of music through their headphones.
People try to sneak wearing an earbud during open hours, and we've been cracking down on that. It's okay with one earbud in the backroom but once you're on the floor, it better be off and out of your ear!

We can listen to it through one earbud while the store is closed. Though there is that one guy that blasts his music through his speaker. Really dude, everyone else has their headphones on except you. No one ever says anything to him though

There are a couple of people that get away with wearing both earbuds while the store is closed. :/

Most people wear one earbud while the store is closed.

Backroom is allowed to play from some stereo they have back there. They were once playing some rap music during a visit and apparently the visitor said they liked their taste in music

We didn't for a while. Then one day our STL was on one and decided it needed to stop 100% immediately. I mean it is a safety issue and against target policy to do it so, I can see his point of view.

I only listen to music on Sunday morning on ad set, no earphone since it is a safety issue, I'm the only one back in E & F so no one hears it anyway, and then only on my breaks and lunch.

When they had a no ear bud rule we just got stuck listening to everyone's crappy music as they just played them through their phone speakers.

They didn't even let us do that, because our music might "offend" someone. That was stupid. It wouldn't be so bad if the store at least played seasonal music or something but they don't even do that.

I never got why they have a problem with it during the 4am ad set or things like general backstocking or pulling. They told me that someone got killed somewhere by a wave but come on. Pulling,Backstocking in asile or just pushing during flow isn't dangerous at all. I'm had pressed to find danger when you're not even supposed to leave the aisle until you're done.

The only thing that seems dangerous is wearing them during the truck unload, and that's just for the people actually unloading it though I unload it with my headphones on

It's enforced in my store. My ETL logistics is very strict about the rules.

Doesn't stop me from listening to my music through my phone speakers. It's not loud and can only be hear if you're close to me.

It is a safety issue which is why some ETLs are apprehensive to allow TMs to wear them. If a TM were to get injured while wearing headphones, Target is responsible for allowing their safety to be compromised. I allowed my TMs to either have 1 earphone in or use a speaker (phone or Bluetooth). I didn't care about what was being played until I received complaints.

We used to always have a stereo bumpin in the backroom, 24/7. No one ever said anything, except when DTL's and above came to visit. O/N BR crew usually had headphones, but they got their work done most of the time, so no one complained.

When I would volunteer to help flow during busy weeks (sweet, sweet O/T) I would use one earbud.

I work overnight and we all listen to music. no one says anything as long as the work is done.

It was the one earbud rule when the store was closed and none on the floor if it was open.
Some of the backroom guys who never went up front would do the one earbud during the day and get away with it.

I was usually on the floor when the store opened so I put mine away but if I was going to be building bins or something like that all day in the back, I'd plug in one ear.
Gotta have tunes, man.

When I used to train I told everyone that they could use one headphone while the store was closed. TLs and up didn't care as long as they could still hear/communicate.

Sometimes I use one, sometimes I use my phone speaker. My ETL uses hers during store hours if she's in the back, and our SFT blasts reggae out of his iPad

I think music motivates rather than prevents work from getting done. Just make it known to the team that they have to take them off during visits.

Music while backstocking the food truck is a must! The freezer is almost bearable with some loud rock. Gotta have tunes while slinging 250 gallons of milk too :)

I don't have a problem with my team using headphones as long as they can answer the walkie and only use one earbud. I use them when I am scanning Instocks during the morning before store open, or when I am backstocking (I don't like using them when I pull - It slows me down when I have to keep fiddling with them when they fall out). I've gotten more accomplished when I listen to music than when I don't. I'm not a fan of blasting your music through your phone speakers though... I have such an eclectic taste in music that I spend more time fast forwarding through the embarrassing stuff than actually working.

Had a TM yesterday in to work pulls to the floor from 8am to noon. She didn't take out her earbuds for her entire shift...except when she was on break. How is this possibly okay?

My store is pretty lax about listening to music, at least in the backroom. We can play music through our phone speakers or with one earphone in but no one ever says anything if both are in. We also have several people blasting music through big speakers in the backroom e.g. Girl in receiving playing pop music, guy at the baler playing death metal, guy in electronics stockroom playing classic rock, and janitorial crew playing Mexican love songs. One backroom team member always plays uncensored comedy albums through his phone speaker at full volume. No one seems to mind. The floor is usually limited to one earphone in.
