Hi everyone.

So I'm pricing and presentation team lead for an ultra freaky store ( low volume).

My ETL-hr and I are having an issue. She wants my pricing team to be at the store every Sunday for the ad setup. The only way my team can get the day off is by requesting it. And they only get approved if they can find someone to cover the shift. She is also trying to make it to where presentation is there every Sunday as well. I can understand that my team helps with the ad. But not every single Sunday. She won't even consider rotating people every Sunday. My team is unhappy and don't enjoy coming in every Sunday. Plus what happens when we have a large pricing workload. I only have two people on pricing with others crosstrained. Am I asking to much for my team to be able to have a life? Does anyone know where i can find concrete proof that states pricing team needs to be on ad every Sunday? I've checked workbench and their core roles, but can't find anything.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Rotating weekends to help with the ad seems to work best in a lot of stores. First and foremost you need to be worried about getting the pricing workload done, which is only done during the week. The good news is that you can get a head start on Monday's work after the ad is done on Sunday.

Also, ultra freaky is a designation for the highest back-to-college volume. If you really are a low volume, but ultra freaky store, that must really suck.

My store is a ULV. We have Sunday trucks ( year around not just 4th quarter) , the flow and backroom teams are expected to help with ad then hit the truck( so we pretty much are scheduled every Sunday unless you ask for it off, so we have no life either). Our plano team does help on Sundays from time to time and the pricing team does come in on Sundays sometimes ( not as often). So, there are other stores in the same boat as you. However, I don't see how your Hr can tell you that your team cant ask off unless they find someone to fill their sp ot. I don't think anyone should have to work every Sunday....but others work centers do it all the time .

My one pricing TM works every other Sunday and does ad set from 6-8 under sales floor hours. Then she starts price change for Monday from 8-230 (under pricing hours). Shes the only one though. The rest of my pricing team is pieced together by other teams for right now.... :-/

I think it is not only fair to have them work every other Sunday for 4 whole hours in signing and then go to their regular work center. The signing specialist should definitely be there. No one wants to work early Sunday morning and everyone has to ask for days off. Try being a GSA or GSTL and getting a day off, damn near impossible. If the team members are requesting their rotating Sundays off on a regular basis then I think your HR is spot on telling them they need to switch. We have all played that game before.

Im one of 5 price accuracy tm at my store. When I accepted the position it was of the understanding we would be on a one sunday per month rotation for ad set up. One sunday a month? I could deal with that...fast forward a few months and the price accuracy team has become the permanent EVERY SUNDAY 4 AM ad set up team. The other tms rotate but we are required to be there only getting sundays off by request.

When the pog/pricing team in my store went to the Stl to complain about having to work Sundays...he told them that Spot wasn't a Mon-Friday job...Spot was changing and team members had to learn to change with them.

I'm the pptl in my store. We have struggled with ad setup for some time. When I took over price change I put both teams on rotating weekends. Price and Plano. I use one team member from soft lines and one from electronics. It works well in my store. The month of December. Everyone works every Sunday. Ads are much larger.

there's nothing other than team leads and sft that get set weekends off. your team should be working weekends. your team should have a week day off, really doubt they're scheduling them 7 days a week repeatedly.

Actually at my store everybody including team leads works at least two weekends a month. And NO my team should not be working weekends (at least not every) because that is not how the ad set up was to be structured. Honestly, I don't particularly mind the every Sunday thing, I was just speaking on how things are for PA in my store. We have actually gotten pretty awesome at ad set up. Having a consistent set of people working in the same areas each week allows for faster more accurate set up of ad and end cap audits are done in a lot less time when the TM doing them is familiar with the department. We had an audit a couple weeks ago and got a great score. Every item on audit was correctly signed, labeled, zoned and fully stocked!!

Speaking of ad.I have a question that came up today in toys...So I have an item that is on ad for the week. It is already on TPC for another two weeks. The item is on ad for BOGO but at a HIGHER cost. When scanned in RF apps pricing look up it is at TPC but shows it is on BOGO. So which ad sign goes up in this case? I put up whatever sign matches the PDA because that is what the guest will pay at POS right? And besides that BOGO usually comes with a boatload of 7X11's for shelf display. My team lead said to put up whichever sign has the longest sale date and the better deal regardless of what the PDA shows. He said " Let the GSTL deal with any challenges to pricing during checkout. Somehow that doesn't seem like the right approach...any thoughts

It's interesting working at Target. When I very first applied, I told them I could work any hours except 9am through 1pm on Sundays. Period. They hired me knowing that. Fast forward ten years. I have never changed that availability.

When I transferred to the store I'm at presently, they accepted my availability. A couple weeks in, they schedule me to set ad. 5am to 9am. Okay, I can do that. Lol, it was me and 2 other people. I almost felt guilty leaving at 9. Almost.

As signing "specialist" I hear sometimes that I'm supposed to lead the ad setup. I don't know where this comes from.

It should be one person from electronics, hardlInes, and softlines always. If the ad runs over, it isn't hurting anything. You can add in the operator until store opening, the GSA until 730 or so.. a cashier can help until store opening one person in pricing or pog for a couple hours isn't going to hurt anything as long as you have more than 2-3 people on your teams. You have instocks that could come in, flow helps out before their food truck at my store.. cafe/starbucks can help until they have to open. There is no reason pricing and pog tms should be every week unless it's now during the holidays. Your hr is being unreasonable.

Ours is every week. Half of POG, half of Pricing all year long. It's bull. But we are ULV.
