    Archived Tours

Frankly, I would love to hack into their PA system so that every time the drive up horns go off, anywhere in the chain, they go off over every speaker in headquarters. See how fast they pick a less psychosis-inducing alert tone.

Archived Noises that give you PTSD

The various alarm panels at GS. During our remodel last year, the refrigeration alarm was going off for days, and just after there was some sort of malfunction with the fire alarm, and the panel was making a sound something akin to someone flatlining in a medical drama.

    Archived Ghosting

Forever ago, when my store was preparing to open, they hired three cart attendants during our mass hire. I was one of them. Of the other two, one never showed up for orientation, and the other quit after seeing the cart attendant safety video. (Do any of you remember the safety video with the...

Archived The hell is bias training or whatever they call it?

Yesterday, I got called back to the HR office because in her infinitesimal wisdom, she forgot to have us record on Workbench that we sat through the training.

Archived The hell is bias training or whatever they call it?

When they did it at my store, the HR was literally reading a script, and the resulting "conversation" had remarkably little educational value. In other words, a typical training session.

Guest today told me he was a "secret shopper". Is this legit?

I haven't seen a legit secret shopper in ages. Back when I started, they used to send secret shoppers in from time to time to make sure that cashiers were promoting the Redcard. If you checked one out, and asked them about the Redcard, they would identify themselves as a secret shopper and the...

Service & Engagement Can I speak to a manager?: A front end thread

Here's what would happen to that cart in my store. It wouldn't go to GS. They would summon the cart attendant to immediately take that three tier to the back room and sort it (Nonwithstanding anything else said cart attendant might have been doing). They have a couple racks back there for...

    Archived Cardboard Baler Blues...

I'm front end, so I am seldom in a position to make a bale, but I know how to do it. When our store was being prepared for opening, I was in the back taking the cardboard and baling it. There doesn't seem to be a massive issue in getting people to make bales at my store. There is a massive one...

    Archived Guest dress code?

I've seen everything. I'd say the worst was a guy who had his pants down so low that I could see the base of his genitals. (Yes, he was wearing no underwear, so I literally could see the base of his genitals. And no, he was not even remotely attractive.) I got him through the line as quickly as...

Archived Significant cut in weekly hours

As a nearly 19 year team member, the answer is, "You don't." I barely qualified for the health insurance this year. Before that, the last time I had the qualifying hours was 2014. I am on track to lose my insurance again in 2020, unless hours pick up a lot (Like my SD losing her mind and...

    Archived Store remodels

When my store was done, they took up half of TM parking. It was a major pain in the petard.

    Archived Equipment sign out

Currently, only leaders are allowed into the equipment room. When you need keys or equipment, you have to flag one down. They go in, get the equipment, and put a slip in the charger with the name of the TM who has the equipment. When a TM has to have a walkie and a zebra, both devices will have...

    Archived Store remodels

Voodoo dolls! Why didn't I think of that during my store's remodel? Maybe it would have discouraged them from the <expletive deleted> polished concrete floors that are wrecking everyone's legs and backs.

    Cart attendant shout out

I began my career (serfdom) with Target as a cart attendant, and get put back into it every time someone quits, gets fired, or has to take some flavor of extended leave. I've currently been at it for about a month while they look for replacements for one cart attendant who was let go, and one...

Service & Engagement Can I speak to a manager?: A front end thread

That's really cool. At my store, we have a little wire-frame cart that is really not well suited to the task

    Archived Store remodels

In the store where I work, we theoretically have two desks. In practice though, OPU and Guest Service are still done at the same desk. This probably has a lot to do with the gift registry tablets taking up 80%+ of the OPU desk, and that there is only one person scheduled to watch both desks.

    Archived Lockers

Sounds like my store. They put in new lockers during our remodel. The overwhelming majority of them will not re-open after being locked, necessitating an ETL to come back with the emergency key. The few that do actually work are jealously guarded by the TMs who know which ones they are.

    Archived Store remodels

Our signs were changed to "Returns and Exchanges" when we got remodeled last year as well. Not the best choice. I still call it Guest Service

    Archived Soda stream Returns

Personally, and I'm just evil that way, I would prepare it as the defective sticker directs. If receiving wants it processed differently, they are welcome to do it themselves. I've never had a Sodastream returned defective during one of my shifts, so haven't had to deal with it.
