Black Friday Swag Bag Giveaway

Technically according to the rules anyone who lined up before 4am wasn’t technically allowed to line up. I think no stores followed that policy except for maybe ones very close to corporate
Our security company had the night off and we started at midnight. No way we were going to tell 100+ people they had to leave for 4 hours. Too many batches to pick!

Everyone hates target for this flop of a giveaway with only 5 to 6! items in the filled bag

Considering they didn’t giveaway anything the last few years people should be grateful they got anything. Target just recently gave all guests $10 just for making a wish list. Target could give away everything in the store for free and people would still complain.

No wonder people were ticked off getting that little collection in a “swag” bag. Corporate is so out of touch these days that all they seem to be able to accomplish is ticking people off, but they are certainly expert at that. Target will be paying a high price in yet more guest dissatisfaction for dangling that carrot to get people in line at 6am. Sad.🙁
They weren’t complaining when they got $10 free just for making a wish list. Target gives them a free item every month with 360. Target could give away the whole store and peeps would complain. I hope next year these ungrateful folks get nothing!!!

Yes normally but Target is on its back foot with consumer sentiment and we have to work hard on turning the public opinion around. This was a huge fumble when we're already losing ground.

Getting $10 to make a wish list is a great deal. Who wouldn’t love that! Promotions like that make guests happy and promote goodwill for the company, which is desperately needed at this time. Yes, people complain about practically everything, but people who stood in line in the cold to get a swag bag and ended up with a bag of what they considered miscellaneous junk felt suckered. I don’t blame them. Target would have been better off keeping the “swag” and just putting a $10 gift certificate in each bag, which would have at least brought guests into the store to use it instead of grabbing the bag and running off to the competition, cursing Target all the way. That swag bag promotion blew up in Target’s face. Giving out nothing would have been a much better choice.

No lining up allowed until 4 am? Wasn't enforced at my store - my shift started at 3 and my TL said that there was a substantial line when he arrived much earlier.

Heard that quite a few guests just grabbed their bag and left immediately without shopping. Waiting in line just for a little pile of trinkets and some Nerds candy? So not worth it.
