Hiring Can anyone explain what a meet n greet is when you’re in the process of transferring to another Target store? Experience in interviews?

I’m in preparation of transferring from store to store. Just requested from my HR this past week, and I have a Meet N Greet scheduled on a zoom with the SD or ETL from the other store next week. Has anyone else experienced that or most transfers do interviews before it’s an official? What’s your experience?

It is something newer being done in our store. Similar items have been done and dropped as we gained different leaders but since Target eliminated in person interviews about 8ish years ago, some leaders like to meet someone, ask basic answers and get a feel for the person before making a decision to accept. I've seen it for transfers and for new hires. Seems to be more popular now than before.
I'm not a big fan as what you learn has no indication on how long person plans to stay or their work ethic. Also, time intensive for not much returned value. I especially love it when they do it and the person puts in a 2 week notice within a few weeks.

My ETL at my current store. I was told she does interviews for people who want to transfer to our store. From what I know, there had been bad experiences with people who did the transfer w/o the interview in the past due to poor work ethic. I believe interviews make more sense before taking someone in if I were to place in her shoes.

When I transferred stores long ago I did one over the phone(way before zoom was a thing) basically just asked why I wanted to transfer and asked about the recent attendance issues I had. I didnt really have attendance issues I was just marked late ll the time because I would go from college directly to work and with traffic I couldnt really get there on time everyday but my lead kept me scheduled early incase I did. It was community college and I was out early a lot. Just wanted to affirm with me that I wouldn't have attendance issues there. Last time I transferred i had already known my etls for a while so no meet and greet necessary.
