Previous team member here. Been 2 years since I worked at Target. I applied for On-Demand position and received an offer for seasons guest advocate?

I applied for On-Demand position, did the interview and received an offer letter for season guest advocate. With a starting date of 10/31. That’s not what I applied for?

I worked at target for 6 years during high school and college. It’s been a few years and I now wanted to apply again for some extra money, and I enjoyed the flexibility of on-demand. But I don’t like how the offer letter is telling me I’m a season guest advocate and is giving me a set date to start? I wanted to pick my shifts because I have a full time job. Should I call HR to clarify or just decline?

I would definitely call HR for clarification. If it's not what you want then decline.

On Demand isn't really a hireable option anymore. It's used mostly for current team members who are in school and can't work regular consistent shifts. For this time of year as the need for seasonal workers who can support the extra workload increases, the need leans heavier on what the store needs are not what you'd like to work. Picking up shifts sporadically just doesn't support the busyness of Q4; it's not value added for the store.

As a side note, I think every position you will see at Target lists On Demand as an option which is super misleading. I agree calling the store for clarification is a good idea- despite what I said above, it can't hurt to ask; they may agree to an On Demand position. I just haven't seen it happen in several years now.
