Update -
So far I'm lovin' the new job. I'm working with elderly people, going to their homes and assisting them with the basics, light housework, laundry, shopping. Its nice to feel appreciated, and I've met some pretty nice people so far. I've been all over the place as my schedule is getting set & adjusted (by me.. great perk of this job.. I set my schedule/hours, not some computer) to be more efficient for both myself and the clients. So it's been a bit hectic. But it's nice to not be stuck in a little cage (aka the register) for hours a day. I'm with clients anywhere from 1 to 3 hours per client, then on to the next. Some of the nicer ones I almost feel bad I get paid for. I have a couple that don't want much done, but just want to sit and chit chat. So we hang out, drink a coke and talk. And I get paid. I've only had one bad experience so far, and that was a woman who lived in a hair salon. I was trying to find her "house" and gps was telling me I was there. Finally I called her and she said she was inside the salon. Uhm.. ok then. So I go in, and she's not elderly, but clearly has some... errr.. mental issues? Which we service some mentally disabled people as well. She wanted me to clean her hair salon. And told me that "we could work something out, like a free hair cut" Um... yeah NO. I don't think so. So I told her that she needed to meet with her case manager for a better idea of what I could actually do for her. She got mad. I left. But I figure one crazy person out of a weeks worth of new clients, that's not a bad deal. Best part is, all I had to do was tell my boss.. "yeah this one isn't a good match" and just like that, its not my client anymore. I have a great boss, who actually LISTENS and appreciates and uses my input. And getting a weekly paycheck is wonderful!
I actually have to make a trip to Spot sometime this week for some odds and ends. It's gonna be weird being a guest lol!
