For a long time, its store to store policy.
Of my three stores, time off restrictions varied year to year. No timeoff from Nov 1 or Thanksgiving to New Years. Some said get your time off in by mid Nov but nothing more than 1-2 days allowed per 2 week cycle.

As a seasonal, you would not qualify for transfer. I believe you would have to finish off your seasonal term. And for regular hires, TMs would have to complete their 90 days.
You may or may not have to wait a minimal term to reapply for that store

In the 2000s, I was a FrontEnd TM cross trained on cashier, carts, ServiceDesk, Food Ave (regular and PH). I would also get scheduled for Electronics, Hardlines, and Operator (emergency). Your store can push you to get cross-trained in multiple departments.

Good to hear that you want to assist your store. They will look highly on that. Once you get trained and comfortable in your role, you can then pickup shifts.

My walmart just remodeled along with their self-checkouts. Going from the small counter SCOs to large counter ones. But they still never have a manned checkout lane other than the tobbaco lane. Waiting for the day where they will automate it by scanning your license and punch the number pad...
