This doesn't sound familiar to me at all, and I've been Inbound and GM for a while. Are you saying that you knew which casepacks weren't getting pushed to the salesfloor? Is that like "trapping" for a certain area, or palletizing bulk DPCIs?

At my store, if people are checking capacities and quantities at all, it's more likely happening when pushing a priority.
