If leaders approve of them coming in late to cut OT. Couldn’t schedules be changed so, they would not be late. Also couldn’t these team members leave a few minutes early as well?

I would take the lead position. This would give you some experience as a leader. You could always became a Starbucks leader later. Leaders do get shifted around or some quit. As a front end leader you could still help out some with Starbucks.
