*Please specify if you’re a GSTL or GSA*

How much of your shifts are GSTL/GSA? 100% of them I am the GSTL on duty.

Do you guys get additional mid coverage? Once every couple of months maybe?

How many hours do you work a week? 40.

How old are you and time spent in position? I’m young and over two years now.

Just curious.. wanting to see where everyone’s at 🙂

GSTL here. (Was a GSA, got promoted).

1. As the newest GSA in my store, I usually had 3 service desk, 2 GSA shifts a week or at least that’s what I expected. Some weeks I’d have 1 GSA or 3 or 4 GSA depending. With the holidays, I’m getting at least 4 GSA/GSTL shifts a week though.

2. Yeah, we generally have one mid coverage. More of an early mid. Lately, they have also been putting a second closer on and weekends may have an additional mid depending. We’re a very large store though and we have registers in two completely different spots, so it’s impossible to watch both lanes at once and if you’re alone, you spend half your time walking back and forth.

3. I averaged 34 hours a week before GSA.. mainly because I got called in or picked up so much. Since moving to the GSA position, my average hours have moved to almost 36 and I haven’t had a week under 34. I generally hover around 37 with a few weeks at 40 hours.

4. I’m young. 20, so I tend to get a lot of people who think I don’t know what I’m doing. I’ve been with Target for about 2 years, but have only been GSA for about 4 or 5 months.

1. Newest GSA, my schedule varies but its never just GSA/GSTL shifts. I'll get a bunch of Flex, Service Desk and Order Pickup shifts as well. This week after Thanksgiving, I'm literally closing as GSA all week.
2. We get additional mid coverage on the weekend for sure but it's like once every 2 weeks.
3. I work 40 hours almost all the time, I'm guaranteed 32 though. So far, its been 39-40 hours.
4. Early 20s and just been in role for almost 2 months now.

GSTL, mostly GSTL shifts. A GS shift here and there.
What's midshift coverage 🙁
40 hour a week
Age is just a number, less than a year in position.

I’m not a GSA myself but it’s so weird to me that you guys don’t have mid coverage. I’m at a B volume store with 5 GSAs and a GSTL and all of them are prioritized for full time hours, usually go into overtime, and are only given GSA shifts. We have a mid every day, sometimes even two. Sometimes all 5 are scheduled to work the same day along with someone else who is GSA trained but is mostly in another department and is given GSA shifts.

Gstl, two years in as well. We have two gstls and four gsas. January-August it’s only an opener and closer everyday. August-October we get mids on the weekend and November and December we have a mid everyday and two openers on the weekends during peak weeks. The other gstl spends all five of his shifts being the on duty person unless there’s a gsa there then he’ll help GS or vise versa. I’m typically only on duty gstl twice a week and spend the rest of my week supporting the sales floor/backroom or setting front end SPLs, big baskets, and cartwell.
