I had that happen just today! 5(6) left in the queue, jumped in and it was just 1 item, the other 4(5) nowhere to be found. Did a cart reset to maybe get it to pop back in but nope. I've noticed it before too, but not this obviously so I always thought it was a glitch or a counting error on my part.
