I'm in a dire financial situation and I need more money now. Do I have a path forward with Target in the near future?

I'm in a really bad financial situation. I've been able to live comfortably on my $18 an hour by splitting all living expenses with a roommate, but I'm about to be in a position where I no longer have a roommate. I'd rather not go into details, but I'm on my own sooner than later and I don't have any other options other than just living on my own. Based off of the average rent of a single apartment in my area, I'd need at least $25 an hour to be able to support myself. So you're probably thinking that I could just look into promoting to a TL and getting that raise, but I'm not in a position where I can afford to just sit around and wait months or even years for a promotion. I need the extra money now. I can wait maybe a month, but that's it. My store doesn't have any TL openings and there are already several other team members who have been in development for a while and I know that they're basically ahead in the queue for a promotion.

I'm comfortable here at Target and I'd like to know if I have any realistic path continuing forward with the company given my situation. I'm desperate and I'll look for a better paying job if I really have to, but I'd like to know my options with Target first. What would I say to a TL or ETL given my predicament? "Hey, I'd like to promote to a TL, but I need it to happen within a month and I'd like to pass ahead of the several other team members who have been in development longer than me." I remember the last time I put in my two weeks, my ETL and SD both convinced me to rescind the notice and they gave me a dollar raise to stay, but I don't see a situation where they give me a 7 dollar raise if it means staying. What should I do?

If you need funds sooner rather than later, brush up your resume and look for supplementary employment/ 2nd job. From what you have said about your development, your last in the queue or somewhere at the bottom of the barrel. At least if you’re looking elsewhere for employment, you got a good chance of 1) Finding employment in your salary range that you want and need currently. 2) You haven’t left Target 🎯 yet, so maybe a slim chance in 2044 you get promoted. Good luck 👍🏾

Your realistic options are a 2nd job, a cheaper place, or a roommate (I'm excluding illegal activities of course). You could try selling some things on Facebook, Nextdoor or Ebay to help temporarily. Your HR at Target might have some ideas (and maybe even some cash) for you.
Tech jobs pay more if you have the skills. I have a buddy who does odd jobs installing tech things for companies. Also harder physical work usually pays more, think construction. You could work for ICE, I hear they have plenty of funds (do a bad job of it please, though, for your conscience).
