I just back from a week of vacation and before I left on vacation I put in the request to get paid for the vacation. Now that I am back I went to check on the request and it still says pending, will it get approved before the paycheck or should I go speak to my HR about this?

I'd confirm with HR, but usually they approve it right before payroll closes for that week and will pay you up to average hours, unless you specified a certain amount that is less. They wait just in case you actually worked any hours that week so they know how much to put down. At least that's how it was explained to me by my former HR ETL.
