They can not fire you for not getting Redcards... they CAN fire you however if you are not doing your job and asking every guest. I personally say if it is a large order lets say "now I am sure you are using your Redcard to save 5% right?" I find "goofy/silly" ways of asking too, It gets results and ETLs have noticed and have even encouraged asking in a "silly" way at my store at least.
