TTOTM: If someone's kid is being a brat and whining that they want candy for the entire checkout process and the parent is clearly ignoring them, there's a reason. It doesn't mean they're not a loving parent, it means they're giving them a little tough love. Sometimes "Being warm and fuzzy." (Your words) doesn't work. I'm sure the kid was fine as soon as they got to their car.
