After 5 years I think I'm finally broken

7+ years Repeat the cycle endlessly becoming slowly more bitter, resentful and soon hopeless because you now can't find another job that pays as much as you make now.
This is me. As for finding a different job, it's more an age thing because very few employers are looking for new hires at my age. I need to hang on just a little longer, but it's not going to be easy. Since DBO went away, it's back to boring-boring-boring. And I do not do well with boring.

Try to become competent in office skills like email, Microsoft Word and Excel, emphasis on Excel. Apply for local civil service jobs. I spent 10 years at Target, each one more miserable than the last. I finally couldn’t take it anymore and made a plan to find not just another part time job, but a full time job with benefits.

Great points and here is my rather long response.

Keep plugging away and applying for other jobs.

In the past I have looked at job postings and geared my resume relative to what the position requires.

That being said I have noticed a LOT of job postings list a dozen bullet points that they REQUIRE.

It's up to you to decide which ones might be the most important.

Also I always tell to people to apply to a job then followup a week later then a week after that.

If no response MOVE ON to the next one.

IMHO I have noticed that a lot of companies tend to drag out a job search process because they think you are not applying anywhere else.

Good luck.

1st tm of the month cheated at driveup time to appear super stellar , like they could move thru walls, by skipping verification, ..another tm of the month hides in the family bathroom when asked to help a tm they don't like. I could go on.
They can tell when you skip verification and at my store if you do too many times you will be coached.

I got a gift card for my 10-year, can't remember how much it was but it was definitely more than $5-10. Some birthdays and anniversaries are announced over the walkie, but it seems to be more the TMs that our HR ETL likes. She's really kind of unprofessional, to the point of being a little rude to guests when she's picking a Fulfillment cart. So I'm just as happy to be ignored. A bunch of "happy birthday" or "happy anniversary" over the walkie doesn't mean a whole lot.
I think I got $20 or $25 at 5 years and $50 at 10 years. I make 14 years in October so things may have changed.

They don’t do gift cards anymore for 10 years, they just add $50 to your paycheck now.

I took a Target pen from TSC before I quit if that counts. It was from the bullseye shop I think.
This was when before the Bullseye Shop, many years ago. I was surprised at the time because I didn't think Target would splurge on stuff like that.
