I just had my first interview for the Assets Protection Team Leader position at my local store.
I was very suprised to learn that this store does not have an ETLAP, APS, or TPS. So I would be literally the only employee working in AP.
Anyone in a similar situation? Kind of wondering how they would expect me to keep everything recorded on camera and make an apprehension at the same time.

by the way, this site is really cool. I wish my old job had something similar!

Welcome to The Break Room.

Good luck on your interview.

We only had the one APTL for a long time until the decided to jump us up to a ETL AP and one APTM.
I don't think he ever stopped moving for more than 5 minutes.

My store's just had one APTL so long as I've worked here, we supposedly used to have a TPS as well, but that was done away with a few years back.

My store had 3 AP people, an ETL-AP, APTL (I think, he carries cuffs and makes apprehensions), and a TPS, but the TPS left a while back, they are accepting applications for a new one but nobody's shown up yet. We have 2 AP people now.

My store, a Super-T, has a few TPS (3-4) and I think one APS or APTL (idk he's always roaming in plain clothes and I just stay out of his way). Heck sometimes we have an off-duty officer standing watch lol.

well my advice is to always go for the pmr instead of getting a NPI. Remember if they try to flee , you must physically stop them. The APL at my store has been written up because a subject got away. Remember in AP you have a high risk of getting fired. Be careful. Get all your steps!

If you're the store's only person in AP, then you are an APL. Most likely, your store is low-risk. Don't be afraid to seek support from your IC.

So I've been in role as a APTL for about three years now so if you have any more in-depth questions feel free to PM me. As for apprehensions and camera work don't worry about it! You can obtain all 5 steps without having them on camera. You just have to know they have the merchandise on them when you make the stop and you're golden. There are some specific offenses that WILL get you fired no question as an AP team member but for most other mistakes you can make you will usually get a second chance.

Then they aren't (along with their LOD) doing their job.

This might be totally offtopic but I once had a fellow classmate tell me that AP at Target isn't allowed to stop minors. More specifically a child, like a little kid. She said that some lady who had a stroller filled with a bunch of stuff walked out clean because the baby was in the stroller too and AP wasn't allowed to do that.

When I worked at a gas station, this one lady's kid got caught and my co-worker stopped him and kicked him out. He was like 5 or 6. The lady filed a police report saying she had touched her son.....even came back to cry to the DM!

I don't know about that.
At my store one of the busts that sticks in my head was two woman who were using a babies stroller to load up stuff.
It was quite a scene because they had three kids with them and the store had to call people to come pick up them up as well as the cops.
It's possible that the stores AP let the lady go because they just didn't want the hassle.

Yeh, the 'with kids' thing doesn't fly.
I remember entertaining a cart full of toddlers while granny was handcuffed to a bench in the AP office.

Not true

edit: Lol classmate

my store is ultra high risk so we have 5 tps 3 aps a ap-tl and etl-ap
Sorry to say this but I think payroll is over budget for your store. If you are making high sales like over 100,000 per day then stay open otherwise corporate should think of closing this high theft store.

I don't know a whole lot about AP, but that seems excessive. Be grateful for what ya got! With a team that size I hope you're getting PMRs and apprehensions left and right. Also it's crazy to think that anyone would try to shoplift from a store that has that much AP!

Slide some of your TPS's over this way yo
we average 250k weekdays and over 300k weekends. but yeah it is a huge ap team, but most stores in my district are like this.

250k a day... You must have like 25-30 cashiers at a time. Holy shit. 3 aps seems excessive, but if that's truly the sales of that store I think it is well deserved....
