Calling out twice in three weeks.

I'm not feeling well and have a shift tomorrow. I called out four weeks ago (for a fever) and have been at this job for only 2 months. Will I be penalized in any way for calling out sick again?

Welcome! Sorry to sound harsh, and it’s hard to say without knowing your particular situation and the leadership at your store, but generally speaking attendance is a major factor in deciding which seasonal hires, if any, to keep. The fact that you are still scheduled in January may be a sign that you may be kept, but not knowing your particular store, it’s hard to say. My store would let seasonal hires go during Christmas week, but all stores are not the same. Hopefully you may feel better by tomorrow and be able to work your shift, but if you are too sick to work, you may have to call off and take your chances. Good luck, hope you feel better soon.😁

P.S. You might try posting your shift and see if someone wants the hours and picks it up, but that has a downside too, if no one picks it up and you call off, leadership might think you aren’t sick and calling off for other reasons.

I think you are allowed 3 call outs in your first 90 days.

We had a nut-job 45 yr old guy at the engineering company who called out at least once a week. He was card-carrying psychotic and got away with all kinds of shit. A protected species. Target was pretty decent re. call offs, try to maintain good attendance.
