I've reached retirement age. I've always said I don't see myself retiring anytime soon. I liked being a receiver. In general I enjoy the relationship I've had with so many vendors. Not just the holding them accountable but the back and forth teasing. You know you have their respect when they warn you about a new vendor who will order excessively. Lie about getting approval for displays or just having bad attitude.
The many many team members I've worked with over 20+yrs. I would get aggravated when they would dump stuff in my area when my back was turned. So many times at the end of their shift. However we laughed and help each other . We were struggling when the major remodel started and have been ever since. Losing so much backroom space. Those stupid Montel units. Double trucks. Never coming clean. Canceling trucks but only bringing few people to catch up. Constant turnover of Etls and store directors. Taking so long to get replacements. The last couple of years just constantly struggling to get sweeps loaded and vendor deliveries in. Trying to find space zero waste program. Having to constantly move pallets (left over from unload) out the way to get recycle stuff loaded. Pallets of fixtures/ display coming in. Who ordered it? ETL can you get them out of receiving? Would sit in the steel months later.
Look it takes people and hours to do the work. I Can Not Understand why Target looks like shit compared to the 2 local Walmarts.
I used to get 40 hrs until last year. 32/35 now. It's just getting more frustrating. I was out on workers comp minor injury that no matter what I couldn't do my job. The thought of coming back afterward I know it was only to get worst. I decided I've had enough. So I'm out of here. Best of luck to each and everyone of us as we face some uncertain times.
