I'm going to begin my educational LOA request. My ETL told me that I don't have to return for Thanksgiving and Christmas if I don't want to. But my HR person said I'm required to.

I'd like to take the whole school year off. Maybe come back for spring break. Is that possible? I want the holidays off because I was going to visit my sister and her kids.

You can only do 6 months at a time, IIRC.

We have a few that don't come back for the holidays. I don't know if they just re-up after 6 months, but my store lets them.

Technical speaking, I believe educational LOA is 120 days. That's what I was told when I went on LOA. And due to summer classes, I had to come back during my fall semester finals week. But stores do things differently for different folks. If you're going to school down the steer, they might require you to come back. If you're going to school out of state or just far away, they may let you be on LOA until the next spring or summer I f they like you and you're a good worker. Just be prepared to feel like you're walking into a brand new job when you come back.
