Hey there ETLS! Specifically HR.
I’m wondering what your shift times look like. Do you have flexibility to start early (5/6) some days or close and come in at 1 some days?

Is there flexibility in shift times at all or is it expected to be 8-5 a majority?

Is it worth trying to get flexibility (not shift length I know those are at least ten hours)? I’m trying to balance a partner’s job as well and she needs benefits and her pay but idk if Target is accepting of that idea? If that makes sense? At least for leadership.

Thanks!

Target can be somewhat accommodating to specific needs but it definitely varies by store. Hr isnt a role that is super necessary to be there at specific times but you will be doing more roles then just HR. In my store all ETLs have a closing shift and you will have to be LOD in the morning which entails doing more around thw store then just your area of work. Leadership schedules are made well in advance usually atleast a month out in advance. And generally have a pretty set schedule with a rotation of weekends and the other shifts I mentioned.

At least with my store, the HR ETL tries to be there every shift at least once a week. Some TMs only work nights and don't see them if they never close

I remember years back when they had an HRTM as part of the ON team to help with hr issues but it didn't last long 🙁
One time I actually asked the current HR ETL as to why an HR staff member would not be scheduled 📅 for Overnight Shifts, (Some stores 🏬 I had worked at had at least one). She told me that because the Overnight Shift never engaged in any of the Target 🎯 activities. She also said that “Payroll” was needed elsewhere.

What happened to her?
She left Target & they never bothered to replace her, didn't feel like she was utilized all that much.

This.
Al the very least schedule someone maybe 1-2 times a week & it's not about 'activities' but helping them thru things like open enrollment, scheduling/availability issues & other personnel matters.

We never keep HR tms long, though at my store it's because they have a tendency to hire utter witches for the role of HR ETL. I've never had an HR ETL that wasn't an asshole.

I don’t like using the C word, but def would be justified in describing some Cs that are/were HR ETLs.. its like not being a decent human is a requirement… low energy Cs..

Yeah that's what puzzles me. Do they put it on the application? There's something rotten when they're always a problem to deal with. I'd rather deal with most other managers than our HR ETL

Exactly what I told her. An Entire Shift (Overnight) that doesn’t get key information for things like open enrollment, benefits etc. I don’t think is a “waste” of payroll. Mind you before she was an ETL, her and I were TL’s for a store 🏬 prior. I do my best now to share my experience with the folks on the overnight shift, but I’m no HR expert.
