General merchandise?

I was hired on as seasonal and was given the fulfillment role, I have been working in just fulfillment for the past 3 weeks, on Black Friday and the Saturday after I am scheduled as General Merchandise but have never been trained in this, why would they have me training as that on Black Friday?
