Hi everyone,
I don't actually work at Target (yet) but I did apply online to be a seasonal worker. I joined the forums because I wanted to ask if you all had any advice for the interviews, day to day operations, etc.. I think it's really cool that you all get together and discuss how work goes on here and that you also provide advice and funny / frustrating experience stories.

Electrics / technology and service desk I believe.

They're probably gonna ask if you're comfortable cashiering... I'd just get it over with and move on from Cashier to where ever you wanna go. Probably gonna be Cashier >>> Service Desk >>> Sales Floor >>> and eventually 955892 years later Electronics.

Interviews are friendly and easy, you'll probably see 3 different managers. A GSTL, an ETL, and an HR person or depending on what positions they're interested in hiring you.. instead of a Guest Service Team lead interviewing you, it might be the Sales Floor Team Leader or Electronics Team Lead.

You're pretty much hired on spot if HR is able to interview. They'll give you a date for Orientation day and you might be grouped with 2-3 other people or maybe even 8 other people. My group was 5-large. I think you'll like working at Target, cashiering is a real drag though if you have aspirations to get off a Checklane and do other things around the store. I was originally hired to be a cart attendant and they told me 2-3 weeks would be the limit of letting me cashier then I'd go to Cart Attending... 4 months later I have my first cart attendant shift this Sunday.

---------------

My team leads like how flexible I am, my shift usually consists of coming in, Cashiering for 10-15 minutes, getting put on Cart Pushing duties until my first break, then back cashiering, then on Self checkout and then usually they'll want me out making the store look pretty and aisles and everything.

But it varies store to store, everything above that impromptu line is pretty much what really matters to you as of right now. If you get offered a position as Cashier and they say "we'll move you onto better things after a while of Cashiering" I'd take the job unless your living situation doesn't look content with being a Cashier. We get paid $10 an hour and I was a full time cashier for half my summer... it sucked a little, but brought in $600+ every check.

He'll probably go right to Electronics or Service desk since he applied for seasonal. They aren't going to spend time training him in multiple areas.
