Target should really do what some other retailers do, have part time and full time TM positions, not just TL and above. Get the partimers invested in becoming full-time and give them decent incentives to move into full time. The inconsistent hours are a major factor in turnover.

Or do what Wally does with their part-timers: give them a fairly consistent number of hours & a set schedule so they can plan a life outside work (family, school, second job, etc).

yes, at my store turn over is a mess. SO! we hire lets say 3 people for flow. well, 4 people quit from flow. then of those 3 hires, 1 may disappear. another will quit 2 days after his/her first day. the 3rd will stay for maybe a month then depart for what ever reason. back to square 1. next! weve had 2 TLs quit this past month andour revolving door of GS-ETLs continues, they only last about 2 months. hardlines will hire 2 people so this means they have 2 people now! score! TM1 works 2 weeks and goes on his break and never comes back. tm2 for hardlines calls out sick .... never to be seen heard from again. flow will again hire 4 people. after a month 3 will quit, then the reaminder will ask to be cross trained, when it doesnt happen in a weeks time, NCNS never to be seen or heard from again. then, my personal favorite, flow team hero of the month, the Flow TLs favortie of favorite almost to his 1 yr anniversary ... quit the week before hand for a higher paying job and i drank the tears of Flows TL as that "fav" screwed me more than once. soft lines is a revolving door with no TL only 1 consistent TM day side and 1 night side. they put 3 people on the bench this year ... all quit shortly after "beause they didnt do anything with me." dont even get me started about POG and how its shrunk and cant seem to keep anyone. my store has become such a revolving door that when i ask what happened to whoever, the answer is "theyve been gone."

to add to all that, some of the people that quit have been with target for as short as 5yrs and as long as 10+yrs and upon quitting left saying it was a lack of opportunity and pay. and the cherry on top the last 2 years best team survey scores have been red. the ETL HR said we were up from last year by 2 points, putting us at 76%, which was still red but at least it went up she said.
