I help them till I see a nearby Tm.
The key? Don't stop walking.
Think that'd work with a broom handle? If a guest asks me for help off the clock I usually just give them a staff to the face.
As long as it inflicts pain yes.Think that'd work with a broom handle?
This is actually not a bad idea...I've started wearing my sunglasses whenever off the clock and walking around the store, the aqua colored knockoff ray bans do wonders for making people not want to bother you.

I've done the same. Off the clock shopping and approached by a non English speaking guest with a crying child. Crying actually doesn't describe it. Pitch. Decibels. Ouch. Way easier to assist Mum and be on my merry.I have in the past helped someone off the clock Ie showing them where something is etc. Now, I simply say that I have clocked out for the day. If I see a fellow team member near by I will direct the guest to them....or tell the guest to pick up the red phone etc.
Me too!I tend to have my headphones in when I'm walking the store shopping on my break or off the clock, so I just pretend I didn't hear the person

I always change my shirt right before clocking out to avoid this problem. But occasisionally a guest will see my khakis and ask "do you work here", and I'll just respond no.
