How is sick time earned?

I've been with Target for over 3 months now and apparently have no sick pay, can you not earn any in your first 90?

I think it depends on your state. Some states mandate sick pay. In other states it goes by Targets base policy which other than saying it is available for "eligible employees" doesn't go into any other details. You would want to check with HR at your store to see what is the eligibility criteria.

If it’s not by state , it would be by working 1000 hours before you start accumulating any just like vacation . Unless things has changed.

I believe some states mandate sick before that. I live in a state that mandates that any employer with more than 15 workers, employees earn 1 hour for every 30 hours worked as long as the employee works at least 24 hours per pay period. They are required to be able to accrue up to 40 hours. That starts immediately. On top of that Target lets you accrue double that so although I average 12 hours per week, I almost always have 75-80 hours of sick time accrued.

How are you getting that much sick time? I work 35-40 hours a week and only have 40 hours sick time. I’ve been with Target 14 years so, I'm far from a newbie. I have not used any of my sick time.

at 1 hour per 30 hrs and 12 hrs times 52 weeks=624 hours a year. 624/30 That means I earn about 20 hours a year. I also have been with Target more than 10 years. I typically use 4-8 hrs of sick per year. Every year that means I am earning 12-16 hrs that I am not using. It stops accruing at 80 for me. I am almost always in that 75-80 hrs or sick.

Must be a case of ASANTS because I have never had more than 40 max sick hours. Ever since we started getting sick hours I’ve never used any and still only at 40 hours sick time.
