I Am a cart attendant and also work sales floor and food side shift but mostly carts. How do I get my TL to let me leave carts completely and move to sales floor and food side shifts.
Try getting training in other areas as well.
GS, HL, Grocery whatever.
Keep hounding them, tell them it's so you can move off carts.
See, this way you're not harassing them to move off carts which is a negative thing.
You want to be trained to be more global, but you'd really like to get off carts.
Of course they don't have the hours to train you or the time to listen to you but hey FA and cashiering would be a good fit for him.
(Though who knows maybe you would get the training, so win win.)
Because it's easier to train ONE person in a new position whereas moving you to a new position means training TWO people in TWO new positions: you in the groc area & the newb to take your spot.
Thats how I got switched over. That and my STL who hated me getting fired. Seriously, just show way more interest in the other departments. I was getting told I had a negative attitude left and right (who wouldn't, slinging carts 8 hour days in the middle of the summer being 100 degrees out.. and the weather is bipolar.. raining in broad daylight so it makes it extra sticky). When I switched departments they told me how great I was and how much TMs look up to me.. hahaha
The best thing about cart attendant, at least at my store, was that you could bust your ass at the beginning of your shift and then chill the rest of your time. I didn't do it when it was real hot though.
