Interview questions

So, I put in for a training specialist backup at my DC. I am quite confident, but I have some questions regarding the interview process. I shouldn’t because I’ve done it so many times but my experience with this key has me questioning the whole process.

I’ve asked for prep and one of the building OM’s has offered to help me prepare. The problem is this OM is on a different key and need to know in advance so they can partner with my OMs to get me off the floor for a bit. My OM’s are horrible at communicating when my interview or anyone for that matter’s is. Someone came in Monday for example and it was sprung on them that morning. Is there an official policy on the last part? I know OMs aren’t required to prep but is there a notice requirement for interviews?

When applying, you are saying you are ready to interview. Please remember that OMs are having to make time for these interviews within their schedules too. Is this your ultimate goal, backup and then training specialist? But your goal is just anything else, and you are applying for everything that posts, all those interviews should be prep enough.

Ultimate goal, is OM. I want this to be a stepping stone. Ironically enough, I’m working through a program through Guild that if successful I’ll be looking for jobs in that field.

As far as applying for everything, I do that, but feedback I get is subpar at best. Like there isn’t substance to it, so I don’t know if/where im missing. My goal is to improve.

I was super grateful to my manager(s) for giving me genuine and strong feedback. Some of it I used to work on flaws and improve myself, other areas I recognized are just who I am and have been able to be very upfront with my limitations. Consistent and worthwhile feedback (not just for interviews but also in Merit reviews) is probably the most valuable thing I got from Target.

Keep fighting for it!
I wish I had a solid tip on how to find someone willing to get it. Just try to make sure you are making it as easy as possible for them. In a management position myself now (outside Target) I can appreciate how easy it is to be well meaning but also coming up short due to time constraints.
