On June 3rd, I had to go to the ER due to my lower back seizing up. After having a CT scan done, I was diagnosed with moderate spinal stenosis, disc bulges and sciatica. I was off work for a month and a half and also had an MRI done. I have been doing physical therapy and was given exercises to do at home. My first day back at work was July 20th and I work in market with restrictions of only being able to pick up up to 20 pounds. I’ve been considering asking for long term disability as my back issues have been off and on flaring up. I’m just not sure the best choice.

A few years ago I had major surgery, and my recuperation came with lifting restrictions.

There were steps up, allowing certain activities and increasing the weight I was allowed to lift, but I stayed away from Target until I was fully healed.

That was three months. If I recall correctly, that was considered "short term". (Do I recall correctly?)

Anyway, that's what happened to me. Sounds like your case is more serious.
