Our store music not the most family friendly at times.

This weekend I heard Violent Femmes "Blister in the Sun" twice.

Body and beats
I stain my sheets
I don't even know why
My girlfriend, she's at the end
She is starting to cry

Our store's playlist is so eclectic I can't even explain it.

It's funny because they are playing the songs that create a nostalgia factor with a targeted audience, in this case Gen X MTV folk.
It will be amusing to see what they play when Zoomers get to be old enough to be a targeted audience.
Tons of Taylor Swift. And you know what, I wouldn't mind it.

How much actually family friendly music is there, really? Think about the lyrics to some of the biggest pop hits of the past 40 years. Britney Spears and Janet Jackson alone will have one clutching their pearls.
Everyone talks about the song lyrics of today’s music, what about 70’s music? Why don’t we get drunk and screw, Torn between two lovers, afternoon delight etc…

I am shocked we havn't picked up any kpop considering that is the majority of our cd section now. It sad though as classic as they want to be, it is clearly the playlist comes from a list of songs that are licensed on the cheap. I never hear any of the REAL classics from REAL bands.

Just heard another Violent Femmes song last night "Gone Baby Gone".

I had heard the cover version of that by Gnarls Barkley recently too.

Its so funny, the first time I heard this song come on and thought "Why are they playing an awful cover of Trixie Mattel's song?"

The funny part is she went out and found people who looked incredibly close to the band when Blister came out.
Watch the original video for the song and you'll see what I mean.
