Hey, whats up?
I have had 2 phone interviews with the HR Recruiter this week and she wants to schedule me for an in-store interview. So far it has been pretty positive, she told me what the interview process would be like and what to expect, gave me some tips.
About me:
Age: 25 y/o Female
Experience: 2yrs retail, 1.5 years caregiving, 3 years of being an RA in my college dorms
College- Just graduated with a Bachelors of Nutritional Science with plans to get a masters in Public Health

Overall, pretty excited for this. I really need a job and I do love me some Target.
Really hoping the interview process is quick so I can get to the training (I need a paycheck for reals).

Thank you for that.
I have a friend who was in the position and is from a similar background as me and he really enjoyed it.
It is something I will definitely take with a grain of salt. My "home" is a good 8 hours away and I really really do not want to move home. I am doing what I can for now to make some money. I really need a new car, I have significant student debt. I have a degree in an area that isn't hiring unless you have an RD (which has a ridiculous and expensive competitive internship).
I've worked retail, I've held 8 people's hands as they've died, and I have supervised 60 18-21 year olds for a year for no pay but room and board compensation

I'm definitely thankful for people's input on here. I think what will be helpful for me is going into it with specific goals. I really want the management experience which will help me in finding other jobs. I am finding as I apply for job fresh out of college, lots of them want specific experiences and this position could give me that.
I've worked retail but no, I've never done a position exactly like this before and I know it will be a bit of a learning curve. I think going into it with a goal of gaining experience will help me. As opposed to going into it with my head up my ass, delusional, or thinking I am going to become STL in a year.
Ideally I want a year of management experience at least.

Best advice I can give is to not try and overpower everyone of your TM's opinions. A lot of them will have good ideas if you listen, don't always have a "my way or the highway approach." I can give you more advice depending on which ETL position they throw you into. Use your TM's that can be trusted as a resource when you need them, don't be afraid to give them a little power every once in awhile to allow them to lead certain projects. It will make your life a little easier.

Nah, I'm one of those people who likes to hear opinions, especially if someone has a better idea.
Being an RA, I lead with a team of 17 people, 3 staffs of 6 each. So I collaborated frequently. Even when I headed programs I was happy to hear better ideas.
I know its all about keeping a green work area, so any way we can make that happen without having everyone stay hella long- lets do that.

Fourth interview thursday! I met with the STL here and had a great experience- he was nodding, smiling and chiming in on some of my answers.
Really excited!

Failure to drink the Kool aid will result in your swift departure from target. Target is all about development, and if you aren't there to move up, they're going to move you out.

Im not saying you won't like it. You obviously have some life experience and may make a good leader, but your stl and future peers will push you hard to commit to all things target. It leads to burnout.
