Hello everyone. At the Target in which I work, team members are given one paid 15 minute break and one unpaid 30 minute break if they work at least six hours. Tonight I was scheduled to work from 6:30-12:00. We got a bit busy so I stayed till 12:20 to finish up some reshop and clocked out at that time (LOD had no issue with me staying). I am just a bit nervous about compliance. I know that I did not surpass 6 hours, but does me cutting it so close bring up any compliance issues?

As far as I know, as long as your name isn't on a report in HR, you're fine.

And as long as you didn't hit 6 hours, your name won't be on a report...... I'm like 98% sure.

I can say for sure though that I've worked for 5 hours and 50 minutes without a "15", and no one ever said anything.

Why would you work that long without taking your break? Nothing you do is worth skipping a break.

Some stores will go ahead and schedule a lunch if you are scheduled 5.5 hours or exactly 6 hours. But as long as you are 5:59 hours or under you are good.

You'll be fine, I cut it at least that close a few times a week. Just keep your start time in mind next time you stay late (and if you clock in 5 minutes early, that still counts towards the 6 hours).

I've skipped breaks before if I'm busy or would rather just not take it but i haven't skipped a meal before. But no one tracks my breaks or lunches and my TL has skipped her breaks plenty of times just because she doesn't like to take them.
