Is it against policy to get your own red card under your name (Team Number) and if so where is this information given that it does violate policy?

You are not allowed to do your own transactions. This is policy, and if you were under your own number and tried to use your discount, the machine would tell you you can't ring yourself up. So, technically someone else could sign in under your numbers and you could do it, but that is against policy as well.

My guess is that between those two policies, they would cover REDCard sign up as a transaction you can't do for yourself.

You are not allowed to "ring up there own purchases" Getting a red card is not a purchase but a sign up. No financial transactions are made here.
I still fail to see where it says I should not sign up for my own red card when they encourage sales floors members to get one and cashiers are required to have them.

I'm sure there are potential scams that are possible, using other peoples information etc.
This way they just make it simple.
It's just one card.
Find someone else who is getting a card and switch off.

I am only asking because I apparently broke a policy that was not stated at all anywhere.
I should not get in trouble for something that I have no access to information on being intolerable and then receive couching on it after I've violated something. (Don't know if its bad until you do it kind of thing.) I just don't understand what Target tries to pull when nothing is clear and policy is too vague or way too detailed and futile to even be worth mentioning.

I can kinda see where you're coming from. It's not like this was gone over in orientation or something. There ARE just some things you learn along the way. I've been with Target for 8 years and can't think of where this particular policy would be stated either. I seriously doubt it's in the handbook and it's changed over the past 8 years so I know mine is not the updated version. LOL
If in doubt, ask first.

I still got in trouble for it first since a fellow team member cleared it for me when I asked. I did not want to rat him out but I mean dang, why was I singled out so hard for something and given a Final for something no one told me about. First month working here is turning out pretty bad so for in terms of my "desires" to enforce these policies and live by them. So dam vague.

So you were given a final for it?
Did they show you where it was written down?
And did they talk to the person who trained you because it sounds like things may have been missed.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not agreeing with what your store did at all. But maybe this is a blessing in disguise? You seem extremely unhappy with Spot- maybe getting a final will give you a chance to find another job so that you can quit before you get fired. It sounds like maybe your store doesn't have their shit together- better opportunities may await you elsewhere.

I know a girl who got arrested for buying discounted lunch meat in the deli. The meat was expiring the next day. No one specified how "deep" of a discount was allowed. She bought many many chubs and is now involved in a lawsuit vs. Target. Still to this day, no one has explained to anyone the "theft" or has reiterated policy or anything at all. Anyone can do the same thing. Vague, indeed!

I believe its still against policy to process a Red Card app for yourself under your own number. Its still a transaction process for yourself

During my time at Food Ave, we were allowed to ring up and suspend our own food orders. And had to have another TM finish off the transaction.

Was this your only offense?
Did they have anything else to call you on?

If you're under your 90 days they really don't have to have much of a reason to cut you loose.
It sucks but it is probationary.
After that you can fight back a little bit.

I had another offense for taking a 30 minute lunch instead of 45 (Handbook said 30) and then signing myself up for a red card.
I was barely 30 days in. As much as I want to work at target it seems its not gonna happen in this life time anymore.

a 45 min lunch hmmmm at my store that in and of itself is worth a CA at worst and a write up at best. sorry that this happened so early on pal sounds like your former store needs to get their shit together pronto

I'm just bummed since it was my first job like EVER. Might head over to Walmart and see if I can try again at Target or Ikea.
