Target no longer accepting checks for red card payments in store

I have an asshole relative who still has a dial phone and calls the refrigerator an ICE BOX. Captain Tech here, we use GPS coordinate calculations for navigation, lap mounted iPad for flight planning and I'm old. Very old.

In the two years I've worked at target, I've had to process a check ONCE. Not a surprising change at all
I've seen checks be used a handful of times for GM stuff- with that said MANY guests at my store pay off their credit card bill with a check which is... interesting lol.

EDIT: one of the times for GM stuff was someone who does constant check fraud LOL

I mean in the end they're both bank transfers from your checking account. If you have a checkbook, you have a debit card. So not a huge deal.

This is good though because check fraud won't be an issue anymore.
I wonder if this fraud is now a major issue.

I deposited a check into my Fidelity account USING THE APP on October 3 and it still hasn't cleared.

I called and they said they are holding all checks up to 21 BUSINESS DAYS so it may not clear until October 26.

I though this was idiotic because I have had an account there for 20+ years and the check was only $175.

I also complained that they didn't give me much notice just a tiny date at the bottom of their webpage.

the Chase "infinite money" glitch trend on tiktok may have had something to do with that

I was told I couldn't write a check to pay my Target bill in the store BUT I can MAIL a check to pay my bill (?!!).
Yeah, no. I just bring cash & pay at the desk. Fortunately, my monthly spending has been going down each month & I always pay in full.
