What is the official Target policy, per themselves, about making changes to the schedule once posted?

The HR-ETL has become brazen about editing the schedule once it has been posted. You'll get a voice message saying, "Oh hey, this is Betty from Target. Don't bother coming in tomorrow. Thanks." or on Monday, "Hey, we cut your schedule by 12 hours this week. So don't worry about working those hours."

I was always given the impression once posted, unless you agree to a change, it is just that. a schedule.

I understand there are times when they might ask you to stay home or whatnot. But it has become ridiculous.

Pushing back too hard could become tricky due to the retaliation aspect Target "says" doesn't happen.

Any thoughts?

I've never had them touch my schedule once posted. I've been asked to stay late, or cover shifts, but it was just that, asked, always had a chance to say no, and never been told to leave early or not come in.

I just think it is laziness. Plain and simple. They make a crappy schedule and then expect you to rearrange your life the day before. I have been with Target for ten years. I have never seen it this bad.

I care less and less everyday.

I have been at spot for 10 plus years. I understand your concern. Hours are at my store, are the lowest ever. Due to poor sales, projections & mgt.

I was always told that they can change your schedule as long as they give you 24 hours notice. I have also been told ....that if you are in the store working your shift...and they need to cut hours they can come to you and ask, if you would like to leave or if you mind...but they cant make you. However, this is Spot so they don't always play by the rules

Hours at our store are the lowest ever. Sales at our store are the highest ever. I have never seen so many call ins or seen as many people quit in as short of a period of time before! They are running us ragged - the number of tm's that have to take second lunches is crazy! It would be nice if the store as a whole would see some financial benefit from this, but I'm guessing next year's raises will not reflect this at all.

I am sure all the stls, dtls etc will be getting a nice bonus

At my store, they cannot change the schedule AT ALL once it's posted, unless they have your permission. They can ask you to not come in (although that's never happened, to my knowledge) or to leave early (or to stay late), but they cannot force you. I've even had LODs ASK me if it's okay that I cover electronics because he called out again, because they're not allowed to change my workcenter like that.

One time my schedule was changed from working 32 hours, to working 40 hours. They extended all of my shifts to make them 8 hours but they did not even tell me! I am not complaining about the having the extra hours but what if i had stuff to do on those days that they decided to change? haha gotta love it

My store won't do that either. I got a text from my HRTM today asking me to stay half an hour later tomorrow to cover as GSA... of course? But she can't change ANYTHING with my permission.

They are allowed to switch around workcenters at random. The only exception would be if you worked in Sbux or someplace that had a modified dress code. At my store, people are constantly switched workcenters to meet the demands of the day.

My store definitely doesn't do that. Sometimes, softlines TMs are asked to help with CAFs, but that's really the only exception. If they're going to switch your entire shift to a new workcenter, they ALWAYS ask first. I've never said no, because I don't really care where I work, so I dunno what would happen if you declined.

Maybe tis a rule his STL or ETL-HR enforces?
