So I was fired this week

Not sure what your state requires, but my state has a termination form for employees to sign. The unemployment office should be able to tell you if it was voluntary or involuntary.
I went to the unemployment office yesterday to verify my identity.

They are investigating on their end.

I will call to file for payment on Monday and go from there.

A few coachings for Pull Percentage goals and I got a CA 9/2023 and 12/2023.

That is before you actually see the percentages in Myday.

However I noticed the CA from 12/2023 "disappeared" from the system about two months ago but the one from 9/2023 is still there.

I think my TL thought I would be really upset.

I am almost 60 and be fired and/or laid off a few times.

It sucks but it isn't the end of the world.
" I m almost 60" ... bingo.
Target is so strange.

I told the Unemployment Office that Target fired me.

I was approved me for benefits.

Target then told them I "voluntarily quit"!

That would explain why Target emailed me a survey to fill out as to "why I quit".

I contacted my former HR ETL and he said they only mark TMs as fired due to theft, violence, etc.

It sounds to me like it is just a way to fudge the turnover numbers and try to screw people out of unemployment.
Lol not strange, typical. My hubby in corporate after being let go for vague reasons aka age, received a separation packet in the mail. We thought it was odd so went over it with a fine tooth comb. Sure enough there was a sheet mentioning " mutual " termination if contract . They were trying to screw him out of unemployment.

Totally agree.

Apparently Target changed their answer now to state they fired me for poor work performance since I pushed back.

So Target lied to the unemployment office.

I will keep pushing and keep filing bi-weekly until I get another job and/or get my unemployment.

I had something similar happen to me about twenty years ago so I am not going to drop it.

That time is took me months to get it resolved but I got my back unemployment.

Finally I also now think they just wanted to cut my hours after there disastrous stock drop this past month.

I will keep you all posted.

Was there a paper trail for conversations for poor performance. Basically, a final CA for performance?

I had two CAs from 2023 (September and December) but none in 2024.

Actually I didn't know the September CA was in the system until a month later when I logged into Workday to do some training and noticed it in the subject line.

I asked HR why I wasn't told and they said "your TL said he told you".

By that time it was pointless for me to even read it or sign it.

I realize that I am "at-will" employee but telling Unemployment that I quit then changing your response to "work performance" after I pushed back is bullshit.

I will followup once I hear back from Unemployment.

I got paid my unemployment benefits today.

Apparently the Unemployment Office didn't like being lied to by Target.

It's hardly a "clerical error" when the HR ETL tells me they marked me as "quitting".

Corporations will do anything to save a buck.

Yes they weren't able to screw you out of unemployment, but it still sounds like they fired you possibly for age discrimination reasons. You still have to decide if you want to pursue that.

Age discrimination wouldn't work because there are still two people in that department whom are older than me.

Employees should only be loyal to your next paycheck.

I personally believe my former TL will be gone by February.

He has been a TL at least 10 years and with his pay and benefits he is a VERY EXPENSIVE employee.

It's naive to think Target wouldn't get rid of him to save $5 an hour.

Protected classes are golden. Never kid yourselves, age discrimination is real, always has been always will be. Study the enrollment statistics for Ivy League medical schools. Draw a demographic spreadsheet. Go to any decent American teaching hospital and google: " Meet the new Residents." It's all there.

Same damned thing as age discrimination. Get out before you get canned. Hanging processed cheese on hooks, stacking laundry detergent isn't for reasonably intelligent adults.

How dare you? That's utter bullshit. Honest work is honest work. I guess you weren't reasonably intelligent then when you were stocking that mustard and ketchup? Such classism.

Of course honest work is good but when the store culture is very apparently anti age then it's time to get the fuck out. Don't condone age discrimination, or reverse discrimination. It's real, it's historic and will never change. You missed the point.

That's not what you said. You said putting cheese on hooks and stacking laundry detergent is not for reasonably intelligent adults. That is an insult to many of us on this forum. Own it or be careful how you phrase things if that is not what you meant.
