Target’s Stance on Marijuana

If someone smelled strongly of whiskey, would anyone say anything then?
That gets squishy. A better comparison would be the person who reeks of cigarette smoke. Did they just smoke, or has it been hours and the nasty ass smell is simply trapped in clothes and hair? That uncertainty makes it different than alcohol, since few people would go to work in clothes that had bourbon poured on them.

We had a drunk on the back room staff. Nice enough guy but he had a bad alcohol addiction. He was fired. Stay the fuck off the chemicals while at work. I'm a hell of a lot older than all of you and have seen the devastation it causes. Live clean, it feels better and you won't screw yourself over as happens all too frequently.

Same as drinking...you don't want to be actively drinking or buzzed while on the job.

What’s Target’s stance on marijuana?
Target's stance on marijuana is pretty cautious. They aren't selling any cannabis products just yet. But hey, if the laws change and public demand grows, who knows? Maybe one day you'll see vapes like the VIHO Supercharge Pro on their shelves next to the essential oils! Until then, it's just a waiting game.

My store doesn't test people because if they did (at least when I started) half the store would be gone. Their policy is if you get into some sort of accident and get pegged as being high when it happened, THEN they fire you

Target told me when they hired in 2016 that they only drug test after an accident and/or injury.

I got some stitchhes in 2018 and they didn't test me then.

However if they did drug test and then fired you then could probably deny your unemployment and/or workman's compensation.

This happened at my store some years ago but the maddening thing is that the accident was the result of a leader's negligence; the guy just happened to be a weekend smoker.

Grass is gateway. Alcohol is addicting. Tobacco will kill you. Eat healthy, think healthy, stay busy, exercise, take flying lessons. Stay clean.

We had a team member fired because on her break she smoked weed while sitting outside on the bench. It is legal in NY but you wouldn’t pop open a beer on company property. Dumbass Plus in front of other team members.
I think it's ridiculous that some people think because it's legal that they can just smoke whenever and wherever. Like you said, most people wouldn't pop open a beer or pour a glass of wine on break.
