So my ETL-GE just told me that target will be converting Redcards into yearly membership programs like Sam's club and BJs to drive sales. This explains why target has been pushing redcards so long. Also she said most stores will have live models for new clothing brands kind of like Hollister. I like the new ideas and seems like we are heading in the right direction. What do you guys think?

So you have to pay a fee to shop at Target? Or you pay a fee and get "extras"? Or as mentioned before, the RedCard and Cartwheel are rolled into one?

I don't know she basically said it would be a total rehaul of the redcard and perks. She told me too cashier's that get certain milestones by getting redcards will get benefit packages at the end of the year. Kind if like a bonus but for high performers.

I don't see Target ever going to a membership warehouse model like Sams or Costco. We would go out of business quickly.

People who come in looking for a specific thing are a huge part of our business model.

Live models, as in people models? Or that holo bs that some stores use. I don't shop at Hollister so I don't get the reference.

Live models, doubt it. Models at Hollister are just their floor/cashiers. 'Models ' allows them to discriminate without discriminating.
So (and this is very unPC) ugly employees are cashiers and attractive ones are 'models' and given free clothing as their uniform?

She said live models so I would assume that meant live humans since holograms aren't actually alive they just appear that way.

I could see Target starting some sort of Prime-type membership for the Red Card. Instead of shopping in-store, order online and have it shipped from store or curb-side pickup. This a growing trend for upscale supermarkets. Or make Cartwheel a paid service for extra deals.

I'm not calling us Walmart by any means, but I wouldn't exactly call target "up-scale" either. I get that it's much cleaner and much more comfortable but target's got it's own things that make people say "Eugh, do I really have to go to target?"

No guys I can confirm it.

So, you are going to have to pay to have a RedCard so you can save 5%? We can't get people we to sign up for them when they're free!

Since Brian Cornell came from Sam's Club, I can see why HE might think this is a good idea.

Details, @Davis Sterling. Don't leave us hanging, bro.

Oh ok thanks for making me feel welcome... he joined yesterday he must be lying. I guess you will all see soon enough.

From one master to another, honestly, I can't believe I came here to post some valuable information to my fellow people and everyone is just calling me a liar. This is why target is failing, tms can't even respect one another SMDH

Add me to the list of those who are highly skeptical about a membership program. Target has been pushing RED Cards for a long time because they drive logalty and make Target a HUGE amount of money (interest/late fees) without having to do anything. As for live models? Doubt it. May Target have vendors model new lines? Maybe. I do know Target is working on creating many new brands that we will carry soon.

No one is calling you a liar, my friend.
You asked what the likelihood of such changes would be and people who had been working at Target (some for a very long time) presented their opinions.
No one doubts that the person told you the things you say, just that they don't fit into the current pattern that Spot has going in.
Now saying that, Spot has done some weird and surprisingly stupid things in the past so who knows.

The people here will always state their opinions clearly and without reservation but we, as moderators, try to keep it from getting personal.
The best thing Spot has going for it is the TMs, any falling apart comes from the head down.
