I found a link to the following notice on the home page of eHR yesterday. I'll try to type the whole thing here since I can't link to it:

[At the top is the NLRB seal] FORM NLRB 4728 (5-13)

NOTICE TO EMPLOYEES
POSTED BY ORDER OF THE NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD
AN AGENCY OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT

[body]
The National Labor Relations has found that we violated Federal labor law and has ordered us to post and obey this notice.

FEDERAL LAW GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO
- Form, join, or assist a union
- Choose representatives to bargain with us on your behalf
- Act together with other employees for your benefit and protection
- Choose not to engage in any of these protected activities

WE WILL NOT maintain or enforce the following rules in our team member handbook:

Information security policies that prohibit you from discussing or otherwise disclosing information regarding wages, benefits and other terms and conditions of employment.

A no-solicitation/no-distribution, policy that prohibits union solicitation and distribution by you at all times on Target premises.

An "After Hours" policy that prohibits you from accessing exterior and other nonworking areas of our store premises during your off-duty hours.

A dress code that prohibits you from wearing union buttons or other union insignia while at work.

WE WILL NOT in any like or related manner interfere with , restrain, or coerce you in the exercise of the rights set forth above, which are guaranteed you by Section 7 of the National Labor Relations Act.

WE HAVE rescinded the information security, no-solicitation/no-distribution, "After Hours" and dress code rules.

WE HAVE published and distributed to all of you a revised employee handbook that (1), does not contain the unlawful rules, or (2) provides lawfully-worded rules.

The shadiest thing about this is that it is dated 1/8/2014 and not only am I just now seeing this notice, but it was never mentioned to any team members at our store and we were never told about a "revised" team member handbook. The fact that it was posted on eHR - instead of being printed out and posted near the time clock or on the compliance board where all that OSHA, wage, and other *relevant* info is posted - makes me think that Target knows that most people don't use eHR often enough (or ever) to have noticed. Even I am on there at least a couple times a week and I didn't see it until yesterday. Although, it is possible that it was only just posted. Still, even if that is the case, I have yet to hear anything about it from any of the ETLs during huddle or otherwise.

That's what I was thinking as well. But the changes to the employee handbook are something that affects *all* employees, not just those in NY. It just seems clear to me that Target is trying to avoid reminding team members of their right to organize.

So they were telling people they couldn't wear union buttons when they weren't on the clock?
Or be in the parking lot with union bumper stickers?

I can see why the Feds jumps their shit.
Cute that Spot buried it like that, I'm sure the people who were directly effected know but they sure don't want anybody else getting ideas.

@commiecorvus : I've been reading around online and it seems that, according to the NLRB, the wording in the handbook could have too easily been construed by a team member to mean that unionizing is forbidden.

Isn't that what Spot was going for?

Yes. And it's illegal.

It's time to stop being pushed around by billion dollar companies people. They will cut your insurance, give you 5 cent raises a year, and give you instructions on how to sign up for welfare once you work for them. Unless you stand up for yourself, they will exploit and abuse you.

A few days ago it was posted on r/target on reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/Target/comments/1w2m9u/national_labor_relations_board_notice/

I'm not typically big on unions, but Target employees need to be a part of one. What Target has done over the years has been pathetic. They've tripled most people's workloads without giving them additional time or money for their efforts, while the people at the top (hello Gregg, hi Tina) keep screwing up the company and keep getting their millions for their their moronic ideas.

This really makes me want to stop by a local union and pick up some buttons to wear at work.

It's good to see Target's vehement anti-union stance and tactics taken to task for a change. Unfortunately it won't end up making much of a difference...

LMAO! This is hilarious. I love it. Another thing that team members shouldn't have to do is watch that propaganda bs video on how bad and evil unions are. What a joke and a waste of time. Target is a joke.

@oath2order : As for printing out the notice and leaving it in the break room, *someone* already did that at my store. Needless to say, the ETL-HR was freaking out about it and attended to a number of calls/conference calls with her door closed that day. Still no mention of it at huddle and all of the notices mysteriously disappeared from the TLO and the break room which, according to the notice itself is illegal.

MY STL/HR-ETL left today for HQ,heard their back Wed..also had a visit last month from HQ talked to ETL/TL about union organizing....

My store doesn't have cameras in the break room. I thought everywhere was like this. Guess not.

Our LP TL put a camera in the breakroom after some DVD's were stolen and they made him take it out.
My understanding was it was against policy.

I worked at a store that had a dome in the breakroom, but it could have been a dummy. My current store never had one.
