Archived Too many Trucks for Your Unload in Your Store??

Phew, I thought it was just us. We're on our ninth truck straight and don't have a day off until Wednesday next week. It's been super hectic and with a new ETL for our shift that doesn't know what he's doing, barely anything has been getting done. We had to leave seven pallets on the floor outside the Backroom on the wall of electronics cause we have no room in the Backroom, and it's been like this since before our inventory on the 21. We've been staying 9-ish hours a day to try and come clean but it's not working very well. Plus they were waxing the floors last week which backed things up, and Plano is redoing most of toys this week so they're adding 20+ carriages of toys they've taken off the shelves.

Someone told me it's because the place that sends the trucks is doing inventory so they're dumping all their crap on the stores.

What we have been told up here in the PNW..

And @qmosqueen we do have a TM over there that is pulling and keeping it full as he can, as soon as something is gone, he is flexing it over. I have already pulled the bottom of the shippers out so the capacity is bigger than it should be so the bins are as full as they can be. You don't have not backstock stuff but if you know where to fudge things you can have a lot of it on the floor.

So After 3 doubles in Four nights.... We got a truck that should have been canceled but the DC fucked up... C&S was actually larger than our GM Truck 😀... Plano and Myself come in an hour earlier than our Flow Team. I ended up throwing the truck for the first time and the Plano team worked the line, we ended up finishing the truck and had all of the pallets staged as the Flow team walked in....

My ETL just says STFU and tell them it was a 2100 piece truck 😉.

Funny story of role reversal.

I heard a rumor that they're purging the DCs but idk how true that is. We've topped 1100 cartons initial backstock off a truck already. Took us 3 hours to toss it up.
I haven't noticed any "purging" as far as my dc goes, and our flow to reserve ratio in receiving is low in my opinion right now

For some reason though we got an unusual amount of BTS freight this year. I suppose it goes quick, especially once it's clearance. Maybe that's why

When it comes to back to school, flow should be armed with all the portable printers and flex everything everywhere and NO back stock Do it right the first time Why do we back stock back to school when it will pull and be gone in less than 30 days ??

Because some of it is carry forward/double exposed product. I remember one year, my store opened up cases and cases of carry forward product to flex out, and then it all had to be back stocked 2 weeks later.

that was fun.

After the tax free weekend, stores should be flexing out D-Code.

I have also heard that in order to sweep back product, it has to be full/unopened cases. So our store was unable to sweep back all the excess of carry forward school supplies since the product had been opened and worked to the floor.

That is correct. We were stuck with so much notebook paper since someone had to crack open cases of it just to have it on the floor last year we still have it this year. We got a miss-picked pallet of wide rule and NO college rule paper. So this year we are swamped in notebook paper.

We got a shit ton of misspicked pencil sharpeners. They thought they sent 25 eaches, but in reality 25 cases of 72. We'll be stuck with those for years to come.

I got a display on our truck today (large one for E&E TV mounts).

It was labeled as a Mop.... for our mop aisle....
Are you served by the galesburg mi dc ? . We switched to them 6 weeks ago, and it has been nothing but misspicks since. I miss being served by the Oconomowoc dc.

Hopefully you fixed it.

We had to MySupport the miss pick issue it was so bad. Cases upon cases of BTC hangers labeled as black but were every color but black. Along with just about everything else you could imagine. I got a little pissed and just started walking and quit pulling miss picks out of the back when I had two flats full of merch that was jacked. My ETL was not amused when I told him to find the jackass who can't read who thought all that shit was just fine to backstock like that.

Our backroom looks like shit, and it isn't even Q-4.
I almost quit today because most of the backroom called in sick today. It was me and another guy doing location checks, myfa, exf and backstocking. We could barely move and on top of that the head ETL or whoever runs the store was in an ugly mood and decided he was going to spend the 4 hours he had with me screaming into the radio and making me run laps around the store. It was FUN.

Jesus christ. Nobody finished the trucks on our last truck day (yesterday, and they were huuuge too) and today was the WORST because of that. Every single god damn flow team member was working and the flow TL and the reciever were staying longer than I've ever seen them stay.
I was also supposed to do some plano shit in toys but that never happened today because everyone had to push

Couple things...

1) Yes certain RDCs are doing their inventories around now, so just like when stores do inventories (and find a ton of random NOF and As Is crap to work the next morning) so does the DC... and they just push it to stores.

2) Target needs to do a better job of getting BTS similar to the other seasons (bringing in special DPCIs for items in just BTS) and reducing multiple locations. Its a logistics problem because we are getting pushed tons of CF product to support the sales, but have to not put it out too much so we can still sweep it all back. If a larger portion of it went dcode/clearance, we would likely increase profit since so many stores spend LOTS of payroll trying to not only maintain instocks in two locations (and running it between two separate areas), but also spending money to sweep back what we can. Our supply chain process cannot maintain the area as it is now, and not flexing it because its CF makes it look bad (and is wasting the most precious square footage in the ENTIRE building in terms of foot traffic). I think any business owner would tell you to keep product on your shelves in the square footage with the most foot traffic right now.

It also costs money to mark down the d-code, and the profit margins are lower once the items go clearance. And then all the clearance must be shuffled around multiple times as the new set is created, and the product sells down..... costing more payroll.

I'd rather have more carry-forward, and less d-code.

Backstocking or sweeping back the CF is much easier than moving around clearance multiple times, and ticketing/working out pallets of clearance.

were normally a 3 truck a week store and weve been getting 4. its hard but somehow weve been getting through it. how? the other teams jump in and help.

if the backstock is EPIC, it needs to be challenged. the longer it sits the less likely its being filled. when Flow does its autofills or even BR does the CAFs challenge out them what you believe needs to be pushed and hope for the best.

Our dc is cracking down big time on mispicks and quality issues assigning a few people per shift for quality control or qi they just go all over the dc checking pallets carton count correct labels and picks etc

I wish the DC that services my store would do this. Mispicks, mispicks everywhere.

We took 11 GM trucks last week. 4 FDC trucks. It was absolute hell but we came clean every single day with no overtime allowed.
