Hi, Everyone.
So, I have an issue. I put my two weeks in and used my vacation time to account for getting paid for my average hours. Essentially I worked 2-3 days during that period and had my STL verbally confirm I was able to use vacation time. Well, The pay period was yesterday and I didn't get my pay. HR claimed the 2 weeks vacation can't be approved until after that weeks payroll. What gives and what can I do?

Thats not how vacation time work. You should’ve requested vacation, wait for it to be approved, and then put in your two weeks.

So I'm basically screwed? I was told vacation time doesn't get approved until the week ends to make sure you don't go over your average pay. :/

What does your STL say? He said you could use vacation pay. If he stands by his word maybe he can get the vacation approved since it was for your last week but not after your term day. I don’t know, but it might be worth trying. Good Luck!🍀

Wow. Good to know. I am sooo tempted to leave cause I am fed up , but....... I have soooo much unused vacation time ! I wonder if any vacation will get approved now or is it too late for this year ? I would be surprised if I can stand the current pressure until I can get all my vacation used before I put in my notice. Lately I come VERY close EVERY day to walking out and not looking back. But regret is a bitch.

Are you getting scheduled to your average hours each week? If not, use your accrued vacation time to bring it up to your average hours and chip away at them.

That is a great idea for anyone but me. I am ALWAYS scheduled 40-48. When I add available accrual hours from sick, personal, vacation and well-being I am sitting on over 300 payable hours to lose if I lose my temper and walk out.

I lost about 10 hours when I quit last time because I cashed out at the last minute. I used all the hours I could, but couldn’t use up the remaining amount.
