The issue with a robbery is to minimize danger and risk to the rest of the store. Do as your instructed and let the incident concluded then report it.

I have read too many stories about Home Depot and Walmart employees (non LP roles) running after shoplifters, then getting fired for violating policy.
 
We recently lost an AP (he was a hothead) who did just that.
 
We sell Nerf Guns and Hot Wheels at my store. Those robbers wouldn't stand a chance against me!
