I’m a brand new seasonal hire at my target- food and bev! I just had my first day yesterday and this week I’ve been scheduled for two days (I can see my future weeks and it does pick up heavily)- I have a lot of free time and noticed a lot of people called out so I was wondering if I’m allowed to pick up shifts as a baby hire? I’d only be picking up shifts for consumables because that’s what I was trained in, but MyTime says that you should only pick up shifts when you’re fully trained on them and I’m not sure if I count as trained enough? No supervisors are assigned to my future shifts so I’m not sure if that means I’m in the clear. Is there like a cool down period for new hires? I’d contact my TLs but I don’t have their information

I would hold off until you get your first few training shifts done. Generally your first 3 shifts are shorter and are designated for training with a fellow TM.

Once those are done, and you're ready for more, go for it!

One day at a time (Grasshopper). Save some in the gas tank. As Z put it, don’t burnout as you’ve just started working. Learn as much as you can and if you so choose, cross train in other departments AFTER you learn what you were hired for. Key is Work-life balance. Have a life Outside of Target 🎯. Good luck.
