Can I do anything about my messy TL?

Hey!! So I’ve been working at my target for 4 years now and my team lead is quite messy. I honestly don’t know how she became team lead since she’s always in drama and she spreads it to team members. I’ve heard from multiple colleagues that she has said things about me. For example “ don’t talk to (me) she’s a home wrecker and steals ppls man” “don’t talk to (me) or you’re both gonna get fired.” “(Me) was trying to hookup with my man and I got in her face and shot her down” mind you I’ve been married for 4 years and never once showed interest in her man. I don’t even talk to him unless we say hi or bye in passing… one time a coworker who I don’t get along with wanted to talk to her about me but I was talking to her and she told them to text her about it. I’m sorry what?? I’ve been wanting to report her for years but she’s quite buddy buddy with the ETLs and HR I’m quite unsure if reporting it is even an option. I’m hoping someone has went through the same thing I’m going through and it worked out in your favor and hoping for advice?? Thanks!! 😊

Subject: Formal Concern Regarding Team Lead Conduct and Workplace Environment

Hello [HR Name],

I am writing to formally document concerns regarding ongoing behavior from my Team Lead, [Name], that I believe is creating a hostile and uncomfortable work environment.

Over the past several months, I have been informed by multiple coworkers that she has made personal and defamatory statements about me, including:
  • “Don’t talk to her, she’s a home wrecker and steals people’s men.”
  • “If you talk to her, you’re both going to get fired.”
  • “She tried to hook up with my man and I got in her face and shut her down.
These statements are completely false. I have been married for four years and have never engaged in inappropriate behavior with anyone at work. I do not have personal conversations with her partner beyond basic greetings in passing.

Additionally, there was an incident where another coworker approached her to discuss me while I was standing there, and she instructed them to text her instead. That interaction made me uncomfortable and reinforced the sense that conversations about me are occurring behind my back.

This situation has affected my work environment and professional reputation. I come to work to do my job, not to defend my character against rumors.

I am requesting:
  • A formal review of this behavior
  • A neutral investigation into these claims
  • Assurance that I will not face retaliation for raising this concern
I value my role at Target and would like to continue working in a respectful and professional environment.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
