OK @luna831 I'm just going to break it down for you.

If you are under your 90 days you can be fired for any reason, at any time. You need to be on your game 100% of the time.

After your 90 days it takes a lot more, but it can still happen. I've always told people, if you're past your 90 days don't start worrying until you sign a paper.

But with the way you're freaking out about this, I'll say retail might not be the best fit for you. I mean you'll get screamed at, things thrown at you, people calling you names, and you can't act like this every time.

So...if they believe you forgot to give a receipt...yes you could be fired for work performance/core roles.

Luna, don't worry about it if the guest called just because they think that you forgot to give them their receipt, something tells me that they were a colossal jerk and just wanted something to complain about. if your on your ninety days yes you need to be on your game all the time, but take it from us all we have all seen some interesting occurances that didn't result in termination. hell look at me I took out the cart doors several years ago on my ninety days and I'm still around. most likely that guest just dropped it somewhere and you were the closest thing to blame. your going to be fine I assure you you'll be fine

If you are so concern about it, ask the gstl. But you need stay calm & don't panic. I hope you have learn something new about guests & some bad things they do.

The gstl said dont get more compliants what does it mean?

It means chill the funk out. 🙂 "don't get more complaints" is most likely an undocumented, informal coaching. It's the end of the conversation about that incident. You're not going to get in any trouble, but your GSTL wants to make sure that you don't make a habit of getting complaints. I know the complaint wasn't your fault, and your GSTL probably realizes this too. They said "don't get more complaints" to make sure you knew the issue was serious.

On another note, I wonder if you might be better suited for a job that is not customer service. You are extremely sensitive and fearful. Maybe you might do better in a role where you're not dealing with the general public.

So does that mean I can be fired I have got 27 red cards.

If you're a red-card star, they'll do their best to keep you.....but you DO need to develop a tougher hide. 'kay?

I'm a bit confused.

Your other thread mentions the first 90 days, which makes me think you're in your first 90 days currently. Yet you claim to have worked register for three years. You also mention having gotten 27 red cards (a decent amount for less than 90 days, but very very low for 3 years).

Have you cashiered for three years, but only a small portion of that time has been at Target?

luna831...today I had a guest who bought almost $60.00 worth of product. She had a wedding registry that I scanned. Well, the guest was in a hurry and I had quite a long line. Anyway, the guest asked me if she had gotten her receipt, I told her that she had. Well, the guest left and she hadn't completed her payment on the card reader.
Not only did she not have a receipt....she hadn't paid for the items. I realized this only when the next guest was ready to check out and the previous transaction was still on the register.....I couldn't run after the guest so I just suspended the order and hoped that she'd come back. I don't think she did.....sometimes we make mistakes. That's OK, just don't make the same mistake day after day after day.

Ugh, suspended? We'd probably have just finished the prompts for her and kept on to her receipt incase she came back later.

I probably could have finished the prompts, but I was too flustered to think about that......this is the second time that this has happened. The other time it happened I told the LOD about it. Today, I was just glad to get the register cleared.

I'm a very good cashier, but I have my moments.....and this was one of them.
On the positive side.....I did get two RedCards today!!

Why is this still even an issue worth crying over? As a GSA, if the worst problem I have to deal with all night is a guest claiming a cashier didn't give them a receipt, it would probably be the best night of my GSA life.
And now look where you’re at!! Almost an STL. I’m sure you deal with a whole lot more now lol 🙂

At my old store one of our cashiers called a guest a "dick" and they got a CCA. Depends on your store though....

Sounds about right, disorderly conduct is a final warning or a term depending on the severity. We had a tl cuss out a man who called her the n word.

If they had fired her my store would have rioted. The final acknowledged she could have handled it better but took into account the man was out of line.

Can we put guests on final?

We had a guest whose card was declined at the checkout. The cashier says: "Looks like somebody didn't pay their bill!" Out loud. In front of the guest. And, all the guests behind her. Surprisingly, after that night, we never saw her again
