Right. At my store we conditional hire people, then they have to consent to the background check. We wait until we get the results (cleared to proceed or not cleared) and move forward from there.

Exactly. You can not attend orientation unless your background check has cleared and you are cleared to proceed. If there is something on your background check it can take weeks for it to be completed. We have made conditional job offers only to find out they didn't clear because of some serious offenses.

We schedule the orientation but tell them their actual hire is pending passing the background check.
