Who here is guilty of it? I can't help but "window" shop whenever I have to pull CAF for Elec, Belc, and so on, haha. Most of the time, I will scan something and see the quantity the system wants for something I like. I'll pull the amount and leave one in a cart of B/S and buy it on my lunch or something.

Sometimes I even look for lunch back there.

I stalked a pair of shelves that was 40 dollars off on clearance for a week until they finally put it out and I snagged it if that counts

A few things here and there. Keeps the floor full and less to backstock. Picked up a wreath for my front door the other day.

Particularly shopping from offstage areas, its on the TM shopping policy poster thingy. For my store product like clearance has to be out for 15 minutes and not hidden somewhere before you can buy it.
I follow that rule only if there isn't multiple quantities. I'll be damned if a reseller comes in and nabs them all up before me. Which that happens A LOT at my store

I've definitely found stuff that I've wanted to buy and made a mental note of it so I could go get it in the store after my shift, but I've never put anything aside.

I did find these AWESOME looking spicy chicken noodle things (a kind of ramen) and I was so psyched because I'd never seen them before. Then I checked the date and they weren't going to be set for another 2wks or something. That was kind of depressing lol

Rarely.

I am more likely to notice stuff that is in the wrong place or seems "off" -- like it might be a baffle, or Seasonal Merchandise that should be purged. Or something in bulk that is on like 20 pallets... around BTS, that is possible to have that much bulk backstock.

Buying merchandise that is in the BR is a "no, no" - it needs to be out on the floor.

How about its sitting in a shopping cart located in the area where it's supposed to go for the past two days?

It does need to be out on the floor, but if you're going to ask a team member to pull it after your shift, I don't see the big deal. But asking a team member after your shift increase the odds the merchandise will still be there when your shift is over.

Most of the time if I see something that I've been meaning to buy or decide I want it, I'll just order it online on my break. The past few weeks there's been a lot of clearance grocery stuff coming out of the backroom and if I see something I like, I'll toss it on a clearance endcap on my way to take my last 15 and buy it after I clock out. Our pricing TM has lectured me before about making sure it's on the floor for at least 15 minutes first.

I also usually buy soda directly out of the backroom, from the vendor's pallet sitting on the dock since they don't often bother coming in to work it to the floor. I cleared it with the LOD the first time I did it.

I used to do it all the time, but we have had a major clampdown on it over the last few months.

I always *window* shop the new softlines stuff before it gets pushed out. My entire store (well, softlines TLs, Softlines and price change TMs, a sr tl and the vml) all hide stuff in the fitting room to buy on payday.

If I see something I like at a great price, I might put it in my cart or take my break right away. That's how I got my Lim for tgt bag. Took my break after someone returned it. I don't feel bad. People are still trying to eBay that purse for 3x the price. Better I got it than some reseller lol.

If there's something back there I want, active or discontinued, I'll pull it and put it in the appropriate spot or endcap 30ish minuets before I clock out. I figure if someone else gets it before I do, then oh well.

I've done it with quite a few of the Pokemon plushies, a couple flannel sheet sets. I'm also constantly shopping the men's clearance on the clock. I'll check the prices on underwear, socks, or just general clearance if something catches my eye

I've thought about it before, but the one day that I figured I would I completely forgot about it. It was just some liquid capsule pain pills, I took note of the DPCI when I was back stocking and told myself that I would pull it later.

I don't think it'd be a big issue at my store as long as it's not a popular sale item, big-ticket, low quantity, or anything like that.

Never ever in the backroom, but if I spot something I like while zoning I'll often purchase it after my shift. I don't even see merchandise as legitimate merchandise until it is out on the floor.

When sodas are on sale...I will usually grab a cart throw them in there and leave it down by receiving .I let the receiver know what I am doing .I will go clock out and go back to the backroom....and open the door and yell at him...he will roll the cart out to me. I do this to keep from emptying the shelves...cause when sodas are on sale...I buy a lot and stock up.
